The dam of Vranov

The dam of Vranov was built on the Thaya river near the town of Vranov in 1930s . The dyke is 60m high and in the upper part 292m long. Resulting dam is about 30 km long and in some spots up to 45 m deep. Area-wise it is the tenth largest dam in the Czech Republic. It is used for recreation, in addition to energy production and water management tasks. The dam of Vranov is sometimes called Moravian Adriatic as one of the warmest dams in the Czech Republic. The bathing season starts in early June and ends in mid-September here. The quality of water has been rated as good . The sandy beach (near Vranov) is suitable for small children due to gradual entry into the water.

The shipment at the dam of Vranov was restored back in 2006 by Vranov shipping company. The company operates two ships, Viktorie and Valentina nowadays. The shipping tour has 5 stops . The default station is at the dyke, the others are Lancov , Bítov-camp , Bítov-castle and Chmelnice. There is an option to hire a electric boats as well.
